With more than three thousand years of history, Artà is today one of the island´s few towns which still has its natural and rural beauty intact.
The town still bears marks of the ancient civilizations who have called the island home, most notably the Islamic population, and to a lesser extent, the Catalan-Aragonese Christians who came in the 18th century.
In the Artà town center, where Hotel Can Moragues is located, you can still sense many of the vestiges of the past in its winding alleys and beautiful stone buildings. To discover its charms, we recommend that you talk a walk through its streets and sample its varied typical gastronomy: meat pies, traditional pastries, products from the autumn harvest such as camiaïot and sobrasada; taste renowned wines from our vineyards, and enjoy the cultural and commercial offerings at the Wednesday market, which attracts some of the area´s best artisans.
In Artà´s surroundings, important archaeological, historical, recreation, and environmental destinations can be reached by private vehicle, walking path, or bicycle.
Only 25 km towards the practically virgin coast, you can see the dunes of Sa Canova, the high cliffs of Cap de Ferrutx, the talaiotic era remains of Ses Païsses, and all a series of small coves between S’Arenalet and Cala Torta. Its mountains reaching heights of 500 meters, its rich landscape full of rivers and plains, and its abundant underwater springs, all of which contribute to Artà’s varied landscapes.
