Natural Park

The natural park area is comprised of mountainous and coastal zones, with an abundance of native plants with a great deal of ecological importance. The park represents a beautiful combination of Mallorquin coast, Balearic mountains, and the island´s traditional activities.

Vegetation: The park´s vegetation is characterized by the existence of a various heat tolerant plants, since fire has been used for many years to regenerate pastures. Holm oaks are also present, but limited to riverbeds, while a large part of the surface is dominated by heat loving bushes, such as palmettos and giant reeds.

Fauna: Some of the regions most abundant groups of Mediterranean tortoises call the park home. For birds, cormorants and seagulls from Audouin stand out, and all of the nesting grounds in the Canyamel wetlands. Among the raptors, it is not difficult to spot Elenora´s falcon and the Booted eagle.
